In compliance with the Code of Virginia, Section 63.2-1716, Sunshine Nursery School is religiously exempt from licensure and is classified as a “religiously exempt child day center.”
Sunshine Nursery School is a Christian, non-profit organization sponsored by Providence Forge Presbyterian Church under religious exemption from licensure status through the Virginia Department of Social Services. Facility inspections are conducted by the New Kent County Fire Marshall and Health Department on an annual basis as required by law.
Our program’s purpose is to provide a creative environment for preschoolers to develop spiritually, emotionally, socially, mentally, and physically within a climate of Christian love and acceptance. Sunshine Nursery School was established in 1975.
Sunshine Nursery School is responsible to the Session (governing body) of the Providence Forge Presbyterian Church. All policies of the school are approved by the Session. All questions and concerns about the nursery school should be directed to one of the teachers or the director. In 2008 Sunshine Nursery School was honored with the Sarah Hill Brown Award for Early Childhood Education.
Students must turn 3 or 4 years old by September 30 to be eligible to attend either the 3 year old or 4 year old classes. We operate September through May. Children will bring a packed snack and drink. We will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Students are provided a canvas tote bag.

We are looking forward to starting back to school on Tuesday, September 13 at 9 a.m. with dismissal at 12 Noon. Open house for registered students will be on Thursday, September 8 from 9 to 11 a.m.
